A steamed sponge pudding here in the uk is a steamed cake i topped it with jam and can also have treacle, golden syrup, lemoncurd chocolate sauce or whatever you like on top, serve with custard or cream for a winters treat

its very much so yes except one of the eggs is just the yolk and not the white and then steam for about 35-40 minutes
I may have to try this, hubs likes sponge pudding but not the suet type… Thanks for the tips Adam x
