How can it be over a month since we got back from The US? time sure flies.
This is not a guide of the best places to eat, but my food experiences from the 2 parks. Of course their are so much food offerings in the parks, all depends on your personal tastes and likes.
The first day at Universal studios Hollywood we got lost getting there! missed the turning and sent out off course. Luckily we somehow managed to get back onto the right path. After a detour of about 20 minutes driving. We ate a Lunch we brought with us in the Car parking lot before we went in. So then we could have snacks and a Dinner later outside the park. We had 2 days in Universal and with the length of the queues lucky we did.
Just like Orlando there is Citywalk before you get into the park, with an abundance of shops and places to eat and drink. 2 places stood out to eat at, Voodoo Donuts and Toothesome Emporium both sweet of course. I have had Voodoo Donuts before, but wanted to try some other flavours, last time i only got 2. Got these to take back to the Hotel room and share.
I chose: Mango Tango which was filled to the brim with Mango curd very tasty with a tang topping and a big size for a Donut. I got The Maple Bacon Bar, less impressed with it but still good combo. The Traditional Voodoo Donut and the Pb&J, which was the Biggest /fattest Donut i`ve ever had. It was full of Jam or Jelly and covered in Peanut butter and chopped nuts. Super tasty. See photo below for size!

A huge building in Citywalk is Toothesome Chocolate emporium a Steampunk themed eatery. Serving foods and over the top Milkshakes ! these are $15 each so not cheap by any means, but an experience for sure. You have a wide range of flavours to choose from, each coming with a souvenir cup and over the top. Piled with whipped Cream and additions on top. I wanted to try the Key Lime one with a slice of Pie on top. Dad opted for Red velvet, which had a large muffin/Cupcake on top.

Thoughts? mine wasn’t as Limey as i had imagined, the Pie or Shake. It had a Sour cream Ice cream base. Dads was Raspberry base and good. Would visit again but get a different flavour. I saw a lot of people not finish their drinks and actually left the souvenir cups on the table. Perhaps they didn’t know the cup was to keep.
INSIDE THE PARK
I had looked on the Universal studios website, don`t have the app. And looked at food offerings and wrote down a few i wanted to try, tbh mostly Harry Potter related. And of course anything i spot whilst walking around. In Wizarding world i wanted to try the Potted Butterbeer, The Hot Buterbeer, Pumpkin Juice, Cauldron Cakes and some sweets in Honeydukes. I have already had Butterbeer regular, frozen and Ice cream.

The Hot Butterbeer was like a sweet Milky almost like Hot Chocolate drink. LOL i was asking the server if they do it, she didn’t hear me and thought i was speaking French? said i don`t speak that!
The potted Butterbeer was like a Custard topped with a Caramel/Toffee topping and a blob of Cream in the middle. It was nice $5.99 Orlando doesn’t have this offering. This was in The 3 Broom sticks.
Next door at Honeydukes i got the Cauldron Cake and some sweets and a Pumpkin Juice sipper. Of course did not tell me they were out of Pumpkin Juice ! The Cauldron cake is $9.99 and super cool comes in a reusable silicone mould to bake your own at home. The cake underneath is a standard chocolate cake, it was nice but crumbly, the Frosting flames i took off as was not good. I got another one on my 2nd day. Well worth the price and get to keep and reuse the mould.
Simpsons Land
I had seen about the giant Simpsons LARD LAD Donuts before, so had to see what the hype ws about.

There are a variety of flavours, Big Pink, Cookies and cream and Chocolate and all $9.99 each. WE got it to share back in the Hotel room. Is it the best Donut? not really its pretty standard but bigger, mine looked a little dark in colour. It is a fun novelty to share among a group.
These were all the foods i had time to try, i was planning to try some foods in Nintendo Land but was not able to get into the land as was full. When it was open we were leaving and the wait for Mario kart was almost 3 hours! I had missed out on the everything Pretzel and the Banana Nutella pudding in Minion land.
KNOTTS BERRY FARM
The park was in view from our Hotel room. We walked there to save on costs parking the car, also the soak city water park. Was about a 15-20 minute walk. I could not remember much of the park from before when we visited. It is not a massive park but still has plenty of attractions, several of these are coasters or freefall, so not for us. Here the Famous Boysenberry was the foods i was looking to try. Outside the park is the famous Mrs Knotts Chicken dinner restaurant, and a bakery and shop. I brought some treats from the bakery and some inside the park to try.

The shop was full of Boysenberry goods from Mustard to Tea and Ketchup and Jams. Most tbh were a bit pricey for the size and what you got. I got some Tea. The cookies i got in Ross as apparently Knotts sold the rights to the name to Smuckers who make Boysenberry jam and the cookies with the Knotts berry farm brand on it. Thus being cheaper outside the parks instores. The cookies are little Shortbreads with a blob of jam in the middle nothing special tbh. They are made in various flavours: Raspberry, Apricot, Strawberry,Boysenberry,Fig i saw and Blueberry. They have the individual bags in vending machines. I remember us getting a packet, and me eating them in the back of the car the 1st time we went to California. We also used it to find the car on the way back to the parking lot.
We tried the Boysenberry Latte, which has the syrup in it. It had a fruity sweet perfumed taste, topped with whipped Cream. I noticed the Danish in the counter when we were ordering, so got that too. That was good with the Jam in the centre. In the Ghost Town area spotted the stuffed Churro so got that to share. A decent size to split into 3, warm and filled with Jam.
Outside in the Bakery shop i picked 4 Boysenberry baked goods to try. Was going to get a Pie but the whole one was $20 so forget that!. Found the next best thing with the Boysenberry Tart, pastry case cream and lots of Jam fruit filling, this was the best one. The Boysenberry cookie was just sweet no Berry taste at all. The cake was the worse it fell apart was dry, and had no Berry taste just a greasy buttercream taste. This sadly went into the bin.
These were mostly snacks and drinks we ate at both parks, but of course there are many more Lunch and dinner options to have.
Whats your favourite snack or foods at Universal studios Hollywood? and Knotts Berry farm
Hope you enjoyed this little guide to some foods the parks have to offer, and maybe foods you might want to try yourself.
