They say eat seasonally, well i have been eating my way through another Season Spring!

When the Easter season begins, out come the Hot cross buns and new flavours. I have been trying different sorts for a few years now. Anyway in the pursuit of them all i had some stashed in the freezer, which i only have recently finished so now even though it`s October time to review them all.

And while we are here why not throw in the Easter eggs i got to, i do have some still of the chocolate.

SHOW US YOUR BUNS!

Waitrose always come out with multiple varieties each year. The White Chocolate Lemon ones were nice and Choc Orange plus Triple Chocolate

For me each year Easter and Christmas excite me for food releases. This year we had some new additions including more savoury ones. They also have some of the popular ones from previous years out. Check out my other review on my blog page .

  • Sainsburys Hot Cross Bun Bagels – hybrid
  • Co op Carrot cake these went soggy in the freezer so didn’t get to try them. Masala chilli was a curry chilli flavour which was something different.
  • Lidl Brioche Hot Cross Buns- did not notice much difference tbh than regular ones
  • Aldi came out with more this year, and i finally got the Rhubarb Custard after 2 years trying. They had candied Rhubarb pieces and a custard like taste., Strawberries & Cream were really nice too. And a Cheese and Onion type
  • Asda Blonde Chocolate these were good, Chocolate 7 Sourdough were good also, lots of Chocolate chips in them. The tickled pink ones were rubbish more like a bread roll
  • M&S extremely cheesy- as described great for dipping into molten cheese!
  • Japan centre ? Somewhere i never imagined i would find them! Matcha & Earl Grey 2 different types rather than 1 combo as i first thought. Both were okay a bit on the dry side
  • Tesco Blueberry These were disappointing was coloured Purple like a Blueberry, but didn’t taste much like one. And where are the fruit pieces inside?

BRING ON THE EGGS

I always get my Easter Eggs after in the sales. I was lucky to see a lot on Ocado from M&S and ordered them cheap. Others i picked up from Lidl the Co op and Morrisons. I tend to go for the newer kind of Eggs with something in the shell. These are something different from your usual novelty shaped ones or branded ones. It is much more satisfying getting them half price or discounted and making your money go further. I also got a Harry Potter Golden Egg in the sale.

  • M&S choc corn- tasted like chocolate dipped Popcorn very nice
  • C0 op Hot Cross Bun Egg this was like a Blonde chocolate with spices and fruit pieces.
  • Chocolate Orange bits of Jellies and candy pieces, very nice went quickly
  • Tesco wicked vegan Blackcurrant fruity and crispy rice pieces
  • Morrisons novelty Donut shapes made of Caramelised Chocolate and pearls on top.
  • M&S Golden blonde & Pistachio, the most expensive one at £7.50 half price, Did also have Truffles but not a lot for the Money but still something different. Had Pistachio pieces in the shell
  • Lidl Eton Mess White Chocolate Raspberry & Meringue pieces, nice but super sweet
  • M&S not really an Egg but a novelty ring of Chocolate & Biscuit pieces. I ate this quick really good.
  • Lidl Mint Dark chocolate & Mint what`s to say
  • Triple Chocolate cone from Co op Milk, White and Dark a nice novelty
  • Baileys White Chocolate Strawberry, it is in the truffles not the Egg so a bit misleading
  • Salted Caramel Lidl Toffee and Fudge pieces
  • Not pictured but there was one from the Co op Raspberry & Cocoa nibs like a Diamond

Well that wraps up the Easter offerings for this year. Check out my other blog posts for previous years offerings and more !
