Ever since hearing about the Cereal Killer Cafe opening many years ago i wanted to go, but never pursued it until recently. I was talking to my work colleague Stephanie about new years resolutions, and i said mine was to do more things i had wanted to do but never did. So i went to Brick Lane Shoreditch my 1st time! got slightly lost going the wrong way when i came out the station. The funniest thing is that it was International Cereal day which i didn’t even know existed and i was visiting a Cereal Cafe that day. Was better still as there was a 20% off promotion hooray!

I was excited to go an had picked out what i wanted to try online which was many items! also since their was 20% off why not? it was very busy when we arrived and we got some seats in the corridor under the Cereal Bowl lights not much space for many dishes to fit. Anyway when the waiter came along i said i would order stuff in stages as there was not much room and he moved us to a bigger table at the front. I later found out this was the most instagrammable spot in the shop, so got a good spot to eat. This was a table for 4 or more but as it died down in there we did not have to share which was good. We were right next to it all Trolls, Simpsons arcade game and the Cereal box wall full of Cereals from the past. All while 90s tunes were playing a real Childhood throwback being a 90s kid.

It was smaller than i imagined but also cosy at the same time. I had seen a multicolour Jacket on Boohooman and knew it was the perfect jacket to wear to the Cafe so got it, it is a bit bigger on me but to me felt very 80s/90s and also very Hipster with my Beanie Hat.

THE FOOD

The Menu is inside old Annuals i got a Rugrats and Cartoon Network one for my partner. Their is quite a lot to choose from so we started with an Arizona ice tea each and ordered the food. Cinnamon Toast crunch Mozzarella dippers and the Fruit Pebbles Chicken tenders x3 with Galaxy Blue dip for starters and the Cornflake Chicken Burger with Tater tots.

All the food came out together a feast for the 2 of us as the Burger was much bigger than i anticipated and the amount of Tater tots was very generous. We started with the Mozzarella sticks which were nice i have had Cinnamon Cheese before so was unusual but tasty, need to eat them quick though as when they solidified they are harder to eat. The fruity Pebbles Chicken tenders were also much bigger than i imagined. I did think they would be small Goujons being a starter. Tried one sweet and savoury and the dip was BUBBLEGUM! the thought of Bubblegum and Chicken never crossed my mind like a sweet chili sauce Bubble gum flavour and it was glittery also! before we even got to the Burger we were filling up.

The Burger was also larger than expected but was full of Bacon, Cheese Tomatoes and Cornflake Chicken. I had expected to taste a sweet sort of Corn taste to the coating but didn’t taste that, but it was crispy and nice. The Burger alone was a challenge but we did it! then we slumped and took selfies for a while and i ordered my bowl of Cereal.

So many behind the desk to choose from, i chose the Cinnamon toast crunch Churros, much like Cinnamon Toast crunch in the states but tube shaped comes with a bottle of Milk. I chose a small bowl for i think £3.50 not sure how big it was going to be was an average Breakfast portion. Had i not had the other foods i would have tried some more Cereals. My partner had a Cherry Green Tea. You can get mixed Cereals and toppers and even have it with Ice cream and a larger bowl for £4.50.

The only suggestion i have is to have had a Cereal Menu as you have to leave your table to look behind the bar at the boxes to see what you want. A menu would make it easier with a brief description. I asked for the Bill which comes in an old VHS video tape box. The 20% had not been taken off the waiter knew nothing about the discount so had to speak to the other guy behind the till who took it off as i wished him Happy Cereal day as the password. He said only one person before me had asked so nobody knew they could have got 20% off their foods unless they had checked Facebook or Instagram. Lucky i knew and took a screenshot of the post. I spent about £52 for the two of us which went down to 41.60 and we did have a lot so not bad.

I will definitely return and try some of the other sweet menu items like the Stacked Hot Chocolate, other Cereals and maybe the Pop Tart ice cream Sandwich. It was a great experience and fun trip out for a few hours and a total trip back to the 90s with the Memorabilia all around an Music and the Spice Girls wallpaper behind us. Glad i finally went after all this time. Their is a store in Camden also so may visit that, but they don’t do the hot foods there

CEREAL REVIEW

Well since i visited the Cereal Cafe am also going to rant on about some of the Cereals i have tried over the years mostly limited editions and from abroad. Me chatting about what i think of Weetabix isnt very exciting lol

Over here in the UK every so often they bring out a new flavour limited edition and go on offer so buy them to try them. Otherwise most of the Cereal i get is American Imported and past its best before date on clearance. I did bring some back with me from the states in 2018 in Florida including the Huge sack of Reeses Pb Puffs which are quite cheap over there but here are over £5.00 for a regular size box.

  • Limited edition Coconut Shreddies nice but sweet
  • Limited edition Coco Caramel Shreddies nice but sweet
  • Chocolate peanut Butter Cheerios – got these discounted due to date they were okay similar to Reeses puffs
  • Plant Protein crunch- got these with my Cashback app cost me 50p like an unsweetened Granola with Rice also. Okay with Yogurt
  • Kellogs Kids Cereals not tried yet got these 2 for £1 on my cashback apps instead of £6
  • Reeses Puffs -huge bag from the States a must try for any Pb fan
  • Oreo o`s -i was excited to try these after seeing them but was quite disappointed tbh tasted like a Weeto a Chocolate Cheerio we have here nothing special about them
  • Frosted Flakes Pumpkin Spice – A perfect fall Autumnal start to the Morning from the States. I don’t usually eat frosted Cereals find them too sweet
  • Chocolate blasted Peanut Butter Shreds – Got these from the Dollar store, should have got more very calorific i imagine but they taste like a Chocolate Pb shredded wheat bitesize.
  • Reeses Pb Bats – Like the Reeses pb Puffs but shaped like Bats also got these in the Dollar store should have got more.
  • Captain Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch – photo to come these taste like the Reeses Puffs but just Peanut butter rather than Chocolate & pb
  • Captain Crunch All Berries- I did not like these Berry multicoloured Balls tasted synthetic to me i still have some now unfinished.

Their are some more to add to this list when i can find the pixs from over the years and will continue to look out for new Flavours. Thanks for reading

Has anyone tried any unusual flavour cereals? or any suggestions of ones to try?
