This is long overdue from November last year my Frozen themed Tea with Norwegian themed treats. I was a late comer to the film Frozen only seeing it after it had been out and gone. I brought the Dvd and watched it and liked it, now fast forward to Frozen 2 coming out in 2019 and i am planning this Tea and i learnt a lot of the songs i didn’t know lyrics to and put on a Norwegian themed evening. Arendelle is supposed to be Norwegian inspired so set looking for recipes and ideas set around that.

The whole evening was set in the Frozen ice Palace and with  Frozen aspects but focus on the food. I got myself an Elsa wig then lost it ( let it go for sure) so had to use a White Halloween wig i had then found it afterwards ughh!

So for this Afternoon Tea it was filmed live with me talking, eating and singing of course see below live video

with my guests almost Kristoff and Essex Elsa mum and dad

I have never made any of the items before and enjoy the challenge of creating something new and authentic to the theme. i made as follows

  • Delphiakake – Chocolate Coconut Biscuit  log
  • Rosettes – using my Rosette iron for the 1st time
  • Worlds best Cake – Meringue, sponge, cream
  • Krumkaker – essentially Waffle Ice cream cones
  • Fastlagsboller  – Yeasted Buns with Norid Jam filling & Cream
  • skolbrod – filled with Custard topped with Coconut and Cardamon
  • Apple Cake
  • Snowflake Scones with Lingonberry jam, Cloudberry jam and Clotted Cream
  • Smoorebrod – Beef On rye Bread with Gherkins, Radishes  and Salmon Gravadlax
  • Gudbrandsdalen – Brown Cheese whey cheese on Rye crackers
  • Pepperkake – Black Pepper infused Ginger Biscuits

DSC_8487DSC_8489DSC_8490DSC_8494DSC_8495DSC_8496DSC_8497DSC_8500DSC_8502DSC_8506  I had an impossible time trying to source Snowflake themed Teapots here in the Uk, all in the US and expensive! i got one and that then turned up with a broken inside. The Plates and cups and saucers i got  from a few sellers on Ebay a vintage 1970s Pyrex designed collection. I got the  big Plates, side plates, cups, saucers, milk jug, sugar bowl. Icicle candelabras  and snowflake mats from tkmaxx.

There is also a Snowflake pattern Tablecloth underneath which you cant quite see.

I managed to locate a Electric Krumkaker maker from Lakeland on Ebay which made making them easy and wrapping round a cone to set in the cone shape. They can be filled with Cream but left mine in this case. I brought a Cone and lost it somewhere! ended up using a party hat cone lol

The rosettes i had previously won a Nordwice Rosette iron set on Ebay and used it for the 1st time and it made absolutely dozens of the Rosette Cookies, i ended up throwing the last bit of batter as was sick of making them. Simply dusted with Icing Sugar

REVIEW

As when you are making many items, some are heavier than others and can fill you up quicker like the Buns and Cake. What i did not have that day i had the next day.  The Cloudberry Jam was not a favourite of many of us much preferred the Lingonberry.

The 2 Buns were a little stodgy so a bit disappointing, although the Skolbrod came out the oven so soft and pillowy. But it had a much like Bread consistency so probably did not rise enough

I would have added more Black Pepper to the Ginger Biscuits and use my own recipe the one i had was a little troublesome and too thick.  The Cinnamon Apple cake smelt divine  but too many Apples in it so make a bigger Cake next time to spread them out more.

My favourite was probably the worlds best cake the kvaefjord, interesting to try the Brunost Brown Cheese and Radishes and  Dark Rye Bread for the 1st time.

Make some items smaller next time!

I took a good amount to work and the Rosettes went down well with the Delphiakake and Krumkaker cones. The rest we had the days afterwards so nothing went to waste which is important.

Watch this space with Frozen 2 out and maybe a live action Frozen one day we may return to the Ice palace or the Enchanted Forest for another themed Tea.
