Well Easter has come and gone for another year. Easter eggs always appear well before the time in January and even in late December so plenty of time to grab some choccies.

This year i have done more Easter themed bakes than before now being a working man. I have been tempting my co workers with Easter themed bakes. It is a great way for me to experiment  with ideas and not have tons of treats about to have to eat.  I have got great reviews thus far from my co workers.

RHUBARB & CUSTARD STAINED GLASS SWEET BUNNY BISCUITS

The Biscuits were supposed to be Mini Eggs but they was too big as you had to roll out the Biscuit dough, so couldnt do that with Eggs in it. So i pressed the smartie like treats in some and the rest became Stained glass Rhubarb custard. Several never made it as they stuck to the baking sheet, i ate those!

EASTER EGG LEMON RICE KRISPY TREATS

These got top reviews from all my co workers over Easter, gave them a Lemon flavour and drizzled with White Chocolate and cut into an Easter Egg shape.

REESES PB CUPS RICE KRISPY TREAT NESTS

These were an experiment which turned out very  tasty indeed. Mixed Melted Reeses pb cups with Chocolate and Rice krispies  voila . Need to be smaller next time in height.

THE EASTER COMP AT WORK

My work  ( Lakeland)  decided to have a Easter Cake baking competition, to also further promote things we sell, everyone did something different and everyone made a great effort including my boss. I made a Easter Basket filled with Hot cross Buns. I was inspired by the idea of an Easter Picnic and came up with the idea. The base is a fruit cake  covered in Fondant, topped with royal icing basket weave. The buns are made from Rice krispy treats and fondant and hand painted. Which has fooled many thinking they are real Buns!

We all got a certificate and medal for entering and a prize mine was a bottle of Prosecco.

I later entered the same cake into a facebook competition by Camp Coffee and won the Baking Hamper after being chosen as the winner. So great to get  multiple prizes for the cake!

The hamper was filled with Camp coffee goodies, a star baker spoon, piping bags, spices measuring cups and Silicone cupcake cases.

THE EASTER CAKE STANDS!

It has been the year to top all years with tkmaxx/homesense and their Easter range this year. It started with just one i spotted online and by the end turned into 6 From ceramic to glass.

Anyone who shops in tkmaxx/homesense will know you are never guaranteed to find the same thing in another store or again, so cease the chance and get it when you can.  If you follow tkmaxx online  this can also be the case. The most expensive one coming in at £40 but a big heavy stand and a real conversation piece.

small bunny stand

Although this does bare resemblance to a rat from the front, it is in fact  a bunny ears on the side as you can see. Small dome on top but could be used to a cake without it. rabbit stand blue

Saw this whooper of a stand in the Homesense window whilst out the other day. It is a good height and lovely turquoise colour with embossed rabbits and  eggs. £15 It also has the bonus of having no lipped edge so can go right to edge  with a cake on top or treats.  rabbit cake stands

This platter i picked up on my 1st visit to a new Homesense store, not down as a cake stand  but screaming so to me, it is a platter for food. It has the appeal of  Alice in wonderland March Hare and Easter also, dome could be added

rabbit cake dome

This is the 1st One i got and at £40 the most expensive

It is completely worth it having a big deep dome and also height, has got many compliments thus far. Tkmaxx have got a few of these style stands from India in since Xmas maybe a trend  mixing metal bases and glass. The downside to these is that they often are damaged on the rim of the dome. One last year had to be returned which was a shame. dunelm stand rabbit

A google search brought this one up from Dunelm £15 love it for it is white and simple. Big enough for a cake or treats, easy to clean.

POST EASTER

Perfect time to grab Easter themed goodies at a cut price. It can range from 50% all the way to 75% depending on the store, time and stock.  Some places want rid of the stock asap and go to 50-75% off and some hang on for dear life to the stock until it goes way down. It is still early so the Easter reductions are still going on so we shall see!

Have not got any Chocolate or sweets yet so may get a little stash in the next week or so.
