Well it now nearly the end of January and a majority of the Christmas Bargains are gone. All that remains are oddments scattered here and there. However some stores still have quite a bit of stock left on display, depends on the retailer i suppose.
I can say the last 4 weeks or so have been very fruitful, i always get asked where do i put my stuff after i get it ? the truth is i am running out of room and have to be select with what i get, but always find room somehow! i am working on a better storage system at the moment so everything is better organised.
Onto the sales!
I will suggest to anyone wanting to bag a post Xmas bargain to follow the Hotukdeals forum page posts. People post their bargains like i post mine, new deals and finds local and national. I have found out about several items from looking at posts. Facebook coupon pages also are a great way to spot deals, although once many people see these posts they all rush out to get them, leaving you potentially without a chance!
This is most true with online deals!
I am lucky enough to be at the right place right time and based on previous years patterns. Most places reduce initially 50% off in January, then as you move into week 2, 3 of January they go to 75% or more as stores try to shift Xmas stock for the new spring stock.
Stores vary when they do this further reduction and so it can be tricky to know when to go out. ALSO TAKE NOTE when it comes to Supermarket seasonal reductions on food and decorations they can sometimes be store dependent. I brought some things in one Tesco at one price and at a larger one they were more!
SO WHEN DO YOU HIT THE SHOPS ?
Argos started early and lots of stock got reduced early and went out of stock quick. I was lucky enough to get my 8ft tree further away for £15 instead of £60
Stores like Wilko and Waitrose seem to stick by the same date each year
28th December for Waitrose 75% off most Xmas foods and decs etc
9th January for wilko 75% off Christmas decorations, gifts , food etc
Supermarkets like Tesco and Asda, Sainsburys reduce in the first and 2nd week of January getting rid of Party food and Christmas stocks with up to 75% off sometimes just 50%
Asda started it`s George online sale early for Christmas clothing and i missed some, but managed to get a few pieces in the sale for half price and one more than half price.
M&S also in the 2nd 3rd week of January start reducing the Christmas chocolates, sweets etc to clear, not so much the frozen foods, but the booze as well does go down.
Tkmaxx/Homesense usually reduce earlier as they work ahead of season instore and online 50% off first then 2nd week of January up to 70% off online/instore if you can find anything.
b&m Now if you managed to be in the right place right time for that sale you would have walked away with a mega bargain! They had a 50% off sale which then went suddenly down to most things £1 including Xmas trees for £60. I did not manage to get anything in my local as it had all gone and not available online to buy or check stock.
The range Up to 70% off Christmas clothing and Christmas tree decorations from the 2nd/3rd week of January instore and online. Other decorations vary but the Life size animated props went down cheap from £100 to £30 did not manage to get any of them but plenty of Christmas shirts, decorations and Jumpers
Primark
Just the Christmas Jumpers & Christmas decs and gifts in this category
Jumpers usually go down to £5 or £3 in the 2nd week of January or before, some branded ones do not get reduced or hoodies. Christmas tree decorations usually half price at this point.
SO WHAT I GOT ( most of it pictured hahaha)
And that is it mostly for this year, besides some odd things which may be around if i manage to pick them up. Mostly clothes, food and decorations this year.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog a bit about the sales when they happen and seeing what i got. I never buy things for the sake of them being in the sale, they always must have a purpose or use.
