Christmas may now be over and the sales on, but here is a look back at some more of my Festive favourites from 2017 Christmas.

I am always on the lookout and my parents also, for new and unusual flavours around Christmas time. It can come in the form of Cheese, Crisps, party food or desserts.

THE MINCE PIE OFF

I dont usually buy Mince pies, i make them myself have always done, unless they are a special edition with some difference in flavours. Or if they are reduced quite cheaply

WAITROSE Chocolate & Ginger Mince Pies

I did mention these in my blog before, the 1st lot of Pies tried this year. These were quite disappointing style over substance i am afraid to say. Needed much more Ginger flavour and where is the Brandy gone in them?

ICELAND LUXURY  MINCE PIES

These are the award winning luxury Mince pies, so gave these a try, the pastry is Buttery  and has a double star pattern on top.Besides that i see no difference in the filling then my own from a Mincemeat jar!26176368_1841646945877982_1945470919_n

WAITROSE MIDDLE VALUE OWN BRAND

I got these for a cheeky 15p, when they was reduced to 45p and i had a 30p coupon they sent me earlier in December. The mention of Cherry and Cranberry on the front attracted me to them. But sadly they have very little Cherry & Cranberry in them so these were also a disappointment, quite misleading also being on the front and the actual content being far down the list of ingredients.

They do have a nice Buttery pastry case,  shame about the filling.

TESCO RANGE FRUIT PEAR PLUM & CINNAMON PIES

These although not actual Mince pies are the best ones i tried. The filling is very nice and fruity, although more sauce than fruit chunks. Heated them up and a very winter warmer. Could not get anymore when i went back to Tesco so they must have been popular.  Would give these a big thumbs up!

TESCO OWN BRAND MINCE PIES MID RANGE

Managed to get 3 pack of Mince pies for  10p a pack reduced, although with a best before of Mid January?

They are the smallest of the Mince pies around in size with a star on the top like the Iceland ones. There is nothing special about these ones just the usual standard  Mince pie.

NOW LET`S TALK CRISPS!

KETTLE CHIPS SALTED CARAMEL DOUBLE CREAM

Every year the Crisp companies bring out a token novelty flavour for Christmas

They do indeed taste of Toffee Caramel but with a savoury twist. It can seem strange to get your head around both sweet and savoury at the same time, but i liked them.

TESCO FINEST CANDYCANE CRISPS

Now yes that is correct Mint and Potatoes! it has a sweet Minty aroma when you open the packet and a definite strong taste of Peppermint. Again the sweet and savoury side thinking of Mint with Crisps, it has the sweet salty vibe going for it. I would treat it as a sweet snack opposed to a savoury one. The plainness of the potato crisp acts as a carrier for the Peppermint flavour, i liked it but couldn’t eat too many.

MARKS AND SPENCER SMOKED SALMON CREAM CHEESE CRISPS

If you need a fancy packet of Crisps for Christmas or new years here you go!

Featuring sparkling glittery crisp that taste of Fish! they do live up to the name and have a nice Salmon flavour with glittery sheen to them. I honestly think the Champagne is lost in them and just to fancy them up a bit. worth a try for sure.

FESTIVE DESSERTS

After Christmas is a great chance to try all the festive desserts supermarkets bring out to tempt us for Christmas day and beyond at discounted prices.

Usually Iceland  in Mid January reduce a lot of their domes. Tesco had this Black forest cake dome for £2 each on clearance, far before xmas and frozen so mystery why they was reduced. They tasted very nice and did us for boxing day afters!

There are many more bargains to come throughout January  as the sales continue and the reductions get more on what is left. My hunt for the Christmas jumpers continues and festive wear and homeware.  I hope you have enjoyed my blogs this year and look forward to new blogs throughout 2018 with more bargains, stories and adventures.
