A new project idea has been born called Teas with me

After seeing a Beauty  the beast themed tea offered I thought to myself I could do something like that. I am not offering it to people but for my own project. I have many props and cake equipment which have not been used, and think its high time they got to use !

Much of the stuff I have is limited to a theme and it is rare unless I choose to theme a market stall to have an occasion to use it. So  I have several ideas already  and I custom make my cupcake wrappers so a perfect match me thinks.

Themes possibly on the cards are

  • Alice in wonderland
  • Under the sea mermaid
  • Teddy bears picnic
  • Winnie the pooh
  • Beauty and the beast
  • Christmas
  • Unicorn
  • wizard of oz

Many years back I brought a 3 tiered stand from tkmaxx which is actually more a less like a afternoon tea stand and that also has not been used.  I have been to 2 afternoon teas myself  so know  what to expect the kind of arrangement and style.  What is on offer can vary but typically sandwiches, quiche, scones, small tarts, pastries and macarons

So knowing about that gives me an insight to come up with recipe ideas and theme them to the occasion.

I also have had the chance to supply cupcake wrappers to a wizard of oz themed tea for a hotel over 400 which was great and they sent me a photo to!  So I know I can bring all the elements together to make something unique and special.

Having also done party planning for 7 events in the community quite well and themed them am confident I can make something up

MY AFTERNOON TEA EXPERIENCES

Afternoon tea Bus London

Exactly as it sounds  a route master Bus travels through London while you enjoy afternoon tea on-board.  Very pricey at £45 each and no top ups, tea in a plastic mug and treats average and tbh not much treats on offer. Bit difficult to enjoy the sites and eat at the same time. some pointing out of the sites would have been beneficial  via a microphone  as there is a tv on-board.

I have never been on a route master bus so was exciting for me. Being a cake maker makes me even more critical as a guest. I went with a group of Cake makers so an even more critical group and the manager got an earful afterwards.

For me it is more style than substance, an experience for sure but for your money you could get better value elsewhere

Harrods luxury afternoon tea  Knightsbridge

I went to Harrods famous department store for afternoon tea in the evening for me and my partners 5th anniversary. The place was almost empty which was nice and we got great service very nice surrounding with chandeliers and a regal feel. More expensive at £52.50 each comes with rose champagne, a small starter, sandwiches, scones, cakes, pastries, a small trifle in a pot  strawberries with Pimms plus teas and top ups.

This was a very nice special occasion , you can get cheaper options without the drink and extras.
