It’s almost Easter, seems to come by so quickly, having seen Easter stuff since January . It’s fun to see all the new Easter themed items out homeware and the new Easter chocolates stores bring out.

The best bit however is the sale afterwards !

I  remember before we broke up  school for Easter break being given a  Cadburys creme egg, I detested them for some reason thinking they was too sickly. I as an adult do like them now funny that. Getting eggs at Easter as a child was exciting think one time i had like 6, loses a bit of appeal as an adult  just becoming chocolate.

I remember mum coming back from wilko with a big Easter egg half price for me after Easter. Still I would rather get a chocolate egg than a painted egg as some countries do and give.

I don’t often do as many Easter themed bakes as Xmas or HALLOWEEN, as I seldom get to do Easter themed events, but I do have some favourites from the ones I made over the years and do enjoy making some new Easter theme  treats each year.

Chocolate covered Bunny Oreos

The bunnies have gone down well at fairs I have taken them out to this year with a Strawberry Cheesecake Oreo inside covered in white chocolate.  Not that i need an excuse to eat Oreos my favourite Biscuit.

Scotch Egg creme Egg

I joined the trend  but with an Oreo egg inside a cake pop dough, I made from a recipe I saw, turned out rather too large but tasted delicious size clearly mattered in this case hahaha!

Carrot cake

Carrot cake pops

When I sometimes have Carrot Cake leftover, but not often I made them into cake balls with a Carrot shape  on top. I thought to make them into a Carrot shape and colour white chocolate orange. Worked well and came out cute for a photo idea I had.

Easter shaped Biscuits

Hot cross buns – I made some once which tasted great but you could not see the cross part, so guess they are just hot buns!

I don’t make these anymore as they are so cheap to buy, but do look out for different flavoured ones and special editions to try.  I can remember visiting my grandparents in west London on dads side at Easter and always having a buttered hot cross bun. I loved them so seems tradition to have them.

This year we have got Chocolate & Orange ones reduced from M& S to try as well as some others and the traditional ones.

I can remember last year having Strawberry ones and ones with Apricots  both mini from Asda

I did once make hot cross Bun Bread and Butter pudding  which was a nice Easter twist on the usual version.

Easter shopping

My most favourite part of the arrival of Easter is the homeware in Tkmaxx and stores. They seem to get it early in like late January early February put it out then by March its all gone off display. Whilst other stores still have all the Easter stuff out.

Last Easter I got my 1st Easter cake stands in Tkmaxx in yellow with a bunny embossed in the sides. I picked up 2 and that was that. This year i got the cutest 3 tier bunny stands more like a small treats stand and a small bunny stand. These are hard to come  by and am lucky to get them. On ebay and Amazon they are 2-3 times the price and of course  the majority are in the state’s  so off limits price wise.

But why they put it out early then put it away so quickly is a puzzle when there is plenty of time before Easter, they do it the same at Halloween and Xmas.

Grabbing quirky items and bargains is a year long thrill for me not just Easter, but at Easter comes the chance to get cheap Chocolates post Easter time. I went to waitrose last year and got several packs of Bunny ears with Lindt Bunnies for £1.25 each instead of £5. Got some Bunny slippers from Primark for £2.00.

You do not really get much Easter clothing out apart from the odd apron or tea towels, t-shirts, pyjamas  but I have acquired  several Bunny ears over the years from Poundland and the Lindt  Bunny ears. I had a Bunny ear tail set once from Poundland.

And a few years back I got a stack of reduced Easter chocs from Tesco including Bunnies I used for a cake. They were however a bit out of date when I got to use them finally for a cake.

My favourite sale were the Malteaser Bunnies down to 16p each in Morrisons, I had wanted to make a cake with them surrounding the outside but would have been pricey at full price, as I needed about 20 or so. I scooped a box load and actually used them in September haha still good, for my favourite Cake which is always being repinned from my pinterest board. I made an old fashioned Malt flavoured choc cake for a  retro fair with the bunnies on the outside and mini eggs on top. I sold a fair few slices of it to.
