Another Halloween has come and gone by so quickly
I always look forward to the arrival of Halloween and the props animated and normal props.
Equally as exciting for me is the bake ware and serveware and no better place for that than TKMAXX it has been the most expensive Halloween this year to for me with all my finds.
this year has been a treasure trove from Tkmaxx for Cake stands and stands i can use as Cake stands and i have acquired 12 stands. There was a time when i said that there are never any Halloween themed stands anywhere and now look. Tkmaxx is one of those places where each store is totally different, having been to at least 6 around me they certainly did not have the same stock in each one, making it tricky to say where i got it from and how to get one to those who liked them on my facebook page.
Some props that come out will certainly not make it through to the sales stage as they go first full price or get put away. I managed to get a awesome Grim reaper half price from ASDA for £30 instead of 60 which has killed my neck and back carrying!
The battle of the Animated props is always in my opinion between Wilko and Asda the other supermarkets sometimes have the occasional gem but both Wilko and Asda have multiple props on offer which are always great quality and a decent price. The most i have paid for a animated prop is really £20 full price so the reaper at £30 is my most expensive prop.
I can imagine creating a graveyard scene for him with cake and treats around him which would look creepily cool for a party or stall.
The sad part about it it that i seldom get to do Halloween themed markets. stalls or events so the props lay in storage until that time. I have got to do 2 Halloween events which were exciting to use some of my props. I dare say i would use them all at once but use them to create whatever theme i chose to go for. I have got loads of brooms and wands so a Harry Potter theme is imminent in the works with treats my Cupcake wrappers and cakes.
I have not had a Halloween party for many years since my Nan passed away when i was 16 we used to go to their house for a small party play some games and have some snacks. That was before i really started cake making so mum would make the cake or i would make some biscuits or treats. we would all dress up and play pass the parcel. One time mum had wrapped up a Teabag and even an egg which was the trick prize. My Nan and grandad won most of the prizes and i got a sachet of ketchup haha.
It lost its spark after that as obviously things changed and relationships altered and of course growing up. I certainly hope to have an adult party ( NOT THAT ADULT THEME LOL) in the future and get to use my props and stands.
With the post Halloween sales now it is still possible to get a few things scattered around stores for a short while so we shall see. I am glad that many years ago by chance i was in Wilko the day after Halloween and knew of the Day after 75% Halloween sale and now it is an exciting annual thing for me not knowing what you will get. This year has been a good haul of full size Skeletons which i was after last year, skull jars to match my dispenser wands and the moving broom. Some things i didn’t get hold of for my local doesn’t have them in stock but lucky to get what i did.
This is my 4th year of doing the wilko sale, last year was really a bummer as it had all been put away and only a trolley of stuff, the 2 years before were great with the 1st ever one being the best haul. The thing is they put Christmas stuff out so they take the displays down and move them to a small shelf and they are not marked 75% off but they are. They now mark everything down online after midnight so when u go into store you know it will be 75% but do a price check like me if not sure. my stuff this year was worth £80 i paid £22.00 but with vouchers spent just £6.25 cash
It takes military precision for these sales so i got up early as soon as the store opened for 8.30am in the morning, funny thing it was foggy when i went out how fitting for me to get Halloween props in the fog lol. I got an advantage not everyone knows of the sale apart from Facebook posts sometimes on the Wilko page. The aisle was empty almost so i got a freehand without grabbing hands to contend with. Always best to check even though the props and stuff is reduced that they are not damaged. 4 props i picked up were damaged and they was not removed from sale so just check they work or not missing or torn.
