So on Saturday i hosted my 8th event a Hawaiian themed event. The weather held out which is all i could hope for sunny and not windy or rainy. The event went well around 30+ people come, considering there was a bigger event elsewhere in the borough was okay. Lots of people commented that they had a nice time and liked the decorations and themed Hawaii decorations, including the inside bar area and the cake too. lots and lots of comments on the drinks fountain from kids and adults.
I gave out Flower garlands to guests and everyone was delighted with their garlands and i told them they could keep them too. Funny seeing the adults go home with them so happily.
Was a very nice atmosphere with minimal mess made.
Decorating takes a lot of work to bring a theme to life and create an atmosphere and leave people with an experience. Whilst most people thanked me for hosting the event and saying they had a great time, some children and people are plain ungrateful and just want free food, drink and stuff to do. It is also not just a one person job and does require a team of people helping with the food, decorating and advertising the event, so a big thanks to all those who helped out.
The sand, i thought that 9 22kg bags would make plenty of coverage and it looked like i had brought a few bags, still the kids played in it and made sandcastles, bit disappointing when you look at laid out to what you think it will look like.
The tiki bar i constructed from a greenhouse frame and attached bamboo type fencing on top and the sides to make it into a Tiki bar. Fruit juices and drinks in abundance in the Flamingo themed Tiki bar and was lucky enough to get loads of Flamingo themed lights, trays and decorations to theme it.
Food went down well. some leftover but not gone to waste with people taking some home.
The cake also went down well but did come back with 2 tiers of it, which will go into making cake pop balls. The cake got a bit damaged in transit but otherwise okay.
