Today i went for Tea and Cake at John Lewis`s cafe in Westfield Stratford city.
I recently joined John Lewis`s membership card and got a free voucher for Tea and Cake no value just pick a drink and a dessert. I decided to have the strawberry & rose cake mum had the Banoffee cheesecake, wish i had the cheesecake as mine was just a glorified Victoria sponge with rose petals on top and had no rose flavour at all, and with icing and buttercream was too sweet for me. #adampastryguy
being a Baker and a Jam maker it makes me a tricky customer to judge cakes and desserts when i go out. I was expecting some sort of Rose flavour with the Strawberry and not just a cake with Rose petals and no Rose flavour. This is wrongly advertised and misleading. When i go out to sell at Markets i pout a title and a description of what to expect. This had a title and nothing else. If you like Victoria Sponge then have this.
I recently had Rose Jelly at Harrods Afternoon tea and liked it and i also make a Rose & Strawberry jam so know they pair well together. BIG disappointment this. With the Icing on top, Jam and Buttercream it is too sweet for me.
The Banoffee Cheesecake on the other had was very nice , was originally going to pick that. I don’t like bananas chunks or even eat Bananas but this was smooth and no chunks or slices like a normal Banoffee pie. Tried some of mums piece and would definitely suggest it to try.

The restaurant is quite big and spacious and nicely designed, clean and staff are polite, so a nice atmosphere. Except when mum knocked over her drink onto the floor! after only having a few sips of it. in her white dress, which she luckily didn stain
