Today in my class i  taught my student to make a Black forest cake/Gateau

Layers of chocolate sponge, filled with black cherries and cream with cherry syrup soaked into the sponge layers.

Topped with cream, maraschino cherries, chocolate curls and chocolate chunks. I normally would have used some Kirsch to soak into the sponge layers, but since my student cannot have alcohol i used a cherry syrup which worked well.
